President AC Johnson, signing off

By

TREIA PresidentHello Everyone,

2012 is upon us….hard to believe my two year term as TREIA’s President is ending….what a great opportunity to work with some terrific volunteers…many times for the best and sometimes a bit of a challenge…in it all though, Grandma’s words of wisdom prevailed, okay, almost always….”Be careful how you treat folk baby, you never know who they know; when you will need them; and when you might see them again.”  Much of that is what caused me to focus on getting the majority of the Past Presidents and a select few others to work on TREIA’s Code of Ethics.

So, let me introduce you to your new Board of Directors:

Your Executive Board of Directors:

      Cynthia LaChapelle                 President

            Richard Kahan                        Vice-President

            Hack Sells                               Secretary

        Cheryl Young                         Treasurer

                              Chuck Jurgens &                 Education Co-Chair’s

                                             Donnis Dunn

                  Jan Wynns                             Membership

       Linda Rohrbough                            Publicity

                         Cameron Saemann                         Legislative

                                              Keith Turnbull                           Special Events

                                              AC Johnson                           Past President

Special Thanks to those departing the Board:

Frances Wirth                          Education

Diana Genest                          Secretary

Fred Fetterolf                          Legislative

Also, a big gratitude to all of you that are serving as Sub-Group Leaders and Seconds to those Leaders as well as Check-In Assistants to them.  And finally, to those of you that stepped up to the plate as volunteers at the different events to assist the rest of us volunteers, thank you on behalf of all of TREIA!

Yes, I’m full of thank you, thank you, thank you…..why?  Because I appreciate all of you that come up and say the positive comments that you do about how TREIA is so awesome as a “Tool” for those that are serious about being a real estate investor in the RTP…..without all of those in the background and in the forefront doing what they do to let this “Tool” be what it is…..we as a Board could not do what we have done for the Good of TREIA….stay tuned.

As we go into 2012, keep your head’s up….we’ve been though a financial melt down as well as a real estate melt down and it is not over just yet and does not look like it will be over soon.  It is what it is, but keep a-’goin!

We know that you are serious about keeping it moving forward, our membership is up almost 100% in the last two years (481).  Keep a-’goin!

You know we as a Board have been serious about keeping it moving forward, we were able to work together and redo the TREIA By-Laws, check them out.

You know we as a Board have been serious about keeping it moving forward by reviewing all of the different Educators we brought in for your continuing education in this profession.  In doing so, evaluating who we can bring back and who we might bring in for the first time….all of which for your Tool Belt.

There are seven sub-groups which brings us to eight meetings per month, no where near the 27 meetings a month another REIA has up North, but we do have 8 and we may be ready to bring about a 9th by having an eighth sub-group within the next couple of months….having said this, certainly we have something happening each week that might be of interest to you….try us out, you might like it.

The key to one’s success in this business is to take gained knowledge and apply action.  Going to the different business meetings we have is part of that; this is why these meetings are 30 to 50 strong when we get together.  Just go.

There is so much I’d like to write here, but NOPE, I’ll hold off for your New TREIA President, Cynthia LaChapelle to keep us moving forward.

It has been an awesomely great opportunity to serve you and I look forward to seeing you serve us as the next Board Members of this “Tool” we call TREIA.

Enjoy the Journey,

AC

TREIA President 2010 and 2011

P.S. If, for any reason, you feel we as a Board should take under advisement any thing at all we should be doing for you, please do not hesitate to step up to the plate and address it to us as your Board.  After all, we were confirmed as a slate for nomination onto the Board by you.

Note: A portion of TREIA receipts is used for lobbying efforts for/against laws that affect real estate investing. According to the Internal Revenue Code, lobbying and political campaign expenses that are paid with member dues are not deductible. Because of this, we must notify you as to what portion of your dues cannot be deducted as a business expense. In January of each year, you will be notified of the percentage of your dues that cannot be deducted.
